On our belongings, and the energy they carry

Each of our belongings carry energy in my opinion. I was talking with a friend today and told her, don’t you think it’s like a Studio Ghibli, or Disney movie? Where cars, candle holders, clocks, and coals actually have a spirit? They could wake-up tomorrow, and talk to you! What would they say you think? The ones from your house? Do they hold meaning? Or are they sad and standard?

This is a more childish way maybe, to express something that I feel, soo deeply in myself. That we, humans, got given the gift of creating objects, tools, and things to help us navigate the world. Since the most ancestral times, we have created, made, crafted. Then, at some point, we created machines to help us make. Then at some point, we forgot how to make. We became over relyiant on others making for us, and esepcially, on machines making for us.

But I personally believe that the power of creating our own belongings, with our own hands, is one of the most beautiful thing we can happen to do in life. Pour our soul, time, care, and energy, into that special “thing” that will serve us daily, or that we will contemplate daily.

In that sense, I believe that all we have carries a soul, an energy. Of machines & child slavery for some horribly cheap soulless items (sorry to be so blunt but this is how I see it), and some of emotions, purpose, meaning, stories…

Like that pillow I knit with my grandmother. It is certainly not pretty, it was my first knit pillow, but it may well be one of my most meaningful belonging in the entire house. Or that painting, I carried all the way from Belgium, that was standing in my dad’s living room, and that was made by a family friend.

If they were to wake up and come alive, I feel they would have these kinds souls, soft eyes, loving energies, and grateful to be chosen in my home.

Our belonging hold energy… what kind of energy do you surround yourself with?
