Duration & location on demandPrivate ateliers
Create your own custom design
The private ateliers are an invitation to step inside the studio and take part in the creation of your own piece of jewelry. From imagining the piece to shaping its form and partaking in the different stages of its creation.
Some guests come to design wedding bands or an engagement ring. Others create an anniversary piece, a personal talisman, or a meaningful gift shared between family or friends.
A veriaty of options, as intricate or simple as you wish your piece to be.
The experience is intentionally flexible, for beginners or professionals, it can unfold over one day or several days depending on the project and the level of involvement you wish to have.
Each step offers a deeper understanding of how a piece of jewelry comes to life.
Hours at the studio, immersing yourself in the craft with guidance all along.
DAY ONE
INTRODUCTION
We begin with coffee or tea in the studio and take time to speak about the piece you wish to create.
Together we explore the story behind the jewelry, its symbolism, and the forms it may take. Sketches begin to emerge as we imagine proportions, stones, textures and the character of the piece.
DAY TWO
Optional extension
DESIGN & WAX CARVING
Once the design takes shape, we begin creating the wax model that will later become the jewelry. This step allows you to understand the proportions of the piece and to shape its form with your own hands. Slowly the wax begins to resemble the future ring, pendant or object.
CASTING & METALWORK
One of the most memorable stages of the process is witnessing the design transform into precious metal. Unlike many jewelry experiences where casting happens behind closed doors, you will have the rare opportunity to take part in this step yourself. Depending on the design, we will use either traditional sand casting or vacuum casting to bring the piece to life. Together we prepare the mold and observe as molten metal flows into the form created during the carving stage. Once cooled, the newly cast piece is revealed and begins its next transformation through cleaning, refining, and shaping in the atelier.
It is the moment when an idea truly becomes a piece of jewelry.
DAY THREE
Optional extension
If the piece includes stones, we explore the delicate work of setting them into the jewelry. This stage reveals the final character of the piece as light and material begin to interact.

“Emma is such a wonderful teacher. She's thoughtful and intentional in everything she does, creating a warm and welcoming space to learn and explore. Not only is she kind and encouraging but also incredibly knowledgeable and is always ready to help find creative solutions when things get tricky.
Emma takes the time to get to know each student and is very generous sharing her own jewelry-making journey, which is always so inspiring to hear. She has a special gift for helping you turn your creative ideas into something tangible and beautiful, and she's exactly the kind of teacher you want by your side as you bring your creativity to life. I can't recommend her enough!”
— Avery, Asheville, 2025.What past students are saying
“I had such a wonderful experience at my workshop with Emma. She explained every step clearly and made the whole process easy to follow, even for those of us who had never made jewelry before. Emma is incredibly detail-oriented and patient-she took the time to answer all our questions and ensure everyone felt confident and comfortable. What made the workshop even more special was how she shared stories about her life abroad and her journey with jewelry making. It added such a personal and inspiring touch to the experience. I left feeling creative, relaxed, and proud of the pieces I made! I highly recommend her to anyone, regardless of experience —it's the perfect mix of learning, creativity, and connection.”
— Alexis, Blakc Mountain, 2025.“The jewelry workshop my daughter and I attended was both fun and wonderfully informative. Emma is incredibly knowledgeable about her craft and a patient, engaging teacher. The atmosphere was relaxed, creative, and made the experience truly enjoyable.”
— Jenny, Black Mountain, 2025.-
Not at all. Many guests come with no prior experience and discover the process step by step in the atelier.
Those who already have a background in jewelry are equally welcome. The experience naturally adapts to your level and curiosity.
-
Yes. For jewelers who already have a practice, the experience can be shaped as a deeper exploration of technique, design, and creative process.
Together we can tailor the time in the atelier so it becomes a meaningful learning experience as well as a moment of creation.
-
Absolutely. Couples often come to create engagement rings or wedding bands together, which can be a beautiful and memorable way to begin a new chapter.
Friends and family members are also welcome to share the experience.
-
The Custom Jewelry Atelier is most often held in Emma’s studio, in the Apalachian Mountains, nearby Asheville, North Carolina.
Depending on the project and availability, sessions can also take place in other locations where Emma occasionally works, including studios in cities such as Brussels, New York, or Paris.
The location can be discussed during the consultation.
-
Each project is unique. Guests often come to create engagement rings, wedding bands, anniversary jewelry, personal talismans, or meaningful gifts.
During the consultation, we will explore the possibilities together and shape the direction of the piece.
-
The retreat naturally adapts to the women who gather. If even one participant is a non-French speaker, we will hold the retreat in English, while I can always offer more detailed guidance in French when helpful. If the group is composed entirely of French-speaking women, then the retreat will flow in French.
In every case, the intention is the same: that each woman feels fully included, supported, and at ease.
-
The process begins with a consultation.
During this conversation we speak about the piece you wish to create, the story behind it, and the time you may wish to spend in the atelier. If it feels like the right collaboration, we will then plan the experience and reserve your dates.
-
The investment for the jewelry is shared during the consultation.
This first conversation allows us to explore the story behind the piece, the design you imagine, and whether the Custom Jewelry Atelier feels like the right way to create it together.
Once we sense that the project and the experience are aligned, the investment and next steps are shared before confirming the atelier dates.
